b-a-r-e-l-y!
what a week!
training all week.
you know the scene: sitting in a conference room, drinking coffee, listening, listening, listening, and more listening. Learning. overwhelmed with information.
3 more days next week of IN HOUSE training. then some on-the-job training out in 'the field' with the kids and families.
If I haven't explained my role yet, it's called direct support. Basically our company comes into the families homes BEFORE out of home placement (by CPS or by family choice). Basically the kid's behaviors are getting to be 'too much' and parents cannot handle situations. We go in as direct support to get the family back together and our goal is to keep the kids in home.
A very stressful job. Why do I always pick these? lol.
I mean seriously...I can just go to a coffee shop, sell donuts and coffee and talk to pleasant (maybe not sometimes) customers. I don't know. I figure every job has its challenges.
I'm taking it one day at a time. With my 'mental health issues' I can only hope the next day will happen smoothly and I will be OK. I'm not sure though sometimes. I am trying to stay positive and look at the glass half full.
Other than that, NOTHING has been going on. Very overwhelmed with a new job, and still my families challenges...Having to go to court Feb 3rd because they keep denying my son services through the state for his autism disabilities. :(
A mom just gets tired, ya know?
I hope you are well.

Oh my! I would say that you have a stressful life right now. I think I would choose to work in a quilt shop just cutting fabrics!!!
ReplyDeleteProud of you for giving this job a go. It will be hard but also rewarding. Don't take on too much, think of your needs too. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteA worthwhile job certainly; but perhaps it's not a good fit. A job shouldn't be stressful all the time. That's unhealthy. Particularly when you have your own issues to deal with. Work would be easier and less stressful if you didn't have your own issues to deal with, and your issues would seem less so if work wasn't so difficult and hard on you. Sounds like you have a double wammy going. Why not choice a simply less complicated job so you can focus on the things with you and your family? Good luck with the court stuff. Making rounds today to all my special friends from Bridge and Beyond.
ReplyDeleteWow! I am proud of you for the new job and praying you can keep it up. As far as the Autism, keep fighting. It is odd how some parents gets loads of help and others like us (never got one cent of help for our son with Autism & he can't get help to this day)get nothing but headaches.
