Spring weather

So I believe our high yesterday was 79 degrees here in AZ where I live.

Really???

79???

So it got me thinking, what's YOUR weather like?  And it got me cruising blogs about spring stuff.  Well I found a couple great little tutorials for you. HERE and HERE

Always free, and fun!

On a not-so-light(er) note...I have been taking my almost 9-year-old daughter to a counselor.  (She has anxiety, mostly separation from me). She had her psych eval (sigh) appt this morning.  The psych nurse wanted my daughter to start taking Prozac. (gulp).  Apparently she thinks my dd's anxiety is bad enough to warrant it.  I said ok as I cried inside and went home.  Actually not straight home.  Poor thing. She needed blood/lab tests taken and then had to drop of the script to CVS for this. Ugh people!  I suffer from depression and anxiety and have for a long long time, since childhood. I know this stuff runs in families, but just didn't want to believe I had passed down this awful gene to my own daughter.  We'll see how she does.  Anyone else experience this with their children?  Meds?  Depressive/anxiety episodes?  Oh being a parent just sucks (LOL).  Thanks for listening to me whine a bit today.

  1. We have had emotional issues with one of our sons, but thankfully have not had to use medications yet. One thing, you might get a second opinion about it before you jump in. Every doctor has a different "recipe" for what may help, and it is nice to know about other options.
Our son more or less seemed to grow out of his major issues. We still have to deal with minor ones. We cut soy out of his diet which (to our surprise) actually helped. He had been using soy milk sine he was 1 because of a milk allergy. There are a lot of things that can help, like lowering sodium and preservatives, and eating healthier in general.
But some people, myself included, have chemical imbalances that meds can be a huge help with. You really just have to try things until something works.
    Good luck!

  2. It is a tough job, isn't it? I hope you can get it sorted out for both of you. Poor baby.

Guess it is mild almost everywhere. It was 88* here yesterday and in the 80s again today too. Amazing weather.

  3. Oh man, that's a tough one! I cannot say, but I think if it were me, I would go to more than one doctor before putting her on meds. That's just me. Not at all saying it isn't necessary. What a tough spot to be in for you Mama. I am so sorry about this news. Hang in there.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  4. I'm in Florida, so probably having weather similar to yours. We are having a cold spell now, it's kind of nice.
I'm sorry about your daughter's problems, but it sounds like you have been there and will know how to help her, so she is probably lots luckier than many would be. I wish you all the best.
